Artiste of the week

Artiste of the week is none other than the dapper Solidstar.

The 28 year old Joshua Iniyezo, popularly known Solidstar who hails from Delta state started his musical career as a drummer in his home town in Delta state. Today he is signed to Acheivas records and has released 3 albums so far.

Check out his latest album, W.E.E.D (Witness Everything Exceptionally Different) released on the 31st of October 2016.

Disclaimer: not trying to pick any favorites, but Trigger ft Mr Eazi is my fav track on that album... Enjoy!

New week, New possibilities, New listen

Honestly there's really not much you can do but keep your head up and take on the week... Look alive

Its a new week and there is a whole lot of new opportunities waiting to be unlocked this week, all you need to do is try something new. Speaking of, here are 2 albums and an EP which from our view if you haven't heard, you should definitely check out this week. If you don't generally listen to these artistes, why not try something new ?

  • Shaydee - Rhythm and life

I recently posted up about Shaydee's album, which was released 3 days ago on the 25th of November. Shaydee is currently signed to EME records and featured artistes like: Wizkid, Phyno, Ice Prince, 2baba, and more. Check it out today.

  • The weeknd - Star boy

This weekend was definitely a sweet one because the weeknd also released his Star boy album 3 days ago on the 25th of November. Artistes such as Daft punk, Future, Lana Del Ray and Kendrick Lamar were featured on the album. Definitely this will add some pop to your week.

  • Ella Mai -  Change

British based Ella Mai, signed to Dj mustard released her debut EP, Change 10 days ago on the 18th of November. She was first recognized through her social media singing posts. She has no features on the EP, but its a really good listen, try it this week,

  • Wandecoal

Black diamond hits us with not just one, but 2 hit tracks, Ballerz & Iskaba. Bobrisky one step from becoming a video vixen

So the "snapchat king" Bobrisky is becoming a video vixen !!

Watch the teaser of Mc galaxy's upcoming video Snapchat (Snap o) staring controversial cross dresser Bobrisky and wazobia FM's OAP Nedu. Full video coming soon.

#Ooooosheyyyy  #Baddest

#Foc-us

Don't know about y'all but I'm excited to knock back a couple cold ones this Friday evening and anticipate the last Saturday of the month with no environmental, while listening the latest release by the Koko master himself... Eja nla.. He's been number one all these years and he is here again with another hit.... FOCUS

Listen and enjoy! I know I  will.

Just five!

You could only pick 5 female artistes to listen to for the next year, who would you pick?

Don't get me wrong, you could still listen to other artistes but these are the females I'd like to be stuck with... In no particular order.

1. Justine Skye

This baby girl has been around for all of a minute and she is still super cute. She might be a cute face but her sound is amazing. She definitely will be around for the rest of the time on the clock. Don't believe me? Check out her track with Kranium - Anticipation.

2. Tiwa Savage

Obviously I'd need some cheat afrosounds. The kele- kele love crooner has come a long way from the kele-kele love and has stayed consistent with her flows overtime (not sounding the same on different beats... not naming any names lol). She remains our baby jollof!

3. Keke Palmer

I choose Keke Palmer for those days where I forget I'm not the only one with youth struggles. She has a very powerful voice, which with the right backing could be making so much more waves. Lol she also happens to be my birthday mate and relates to the typical early 20's 'jonze". (Stop me when I start getting too cheesy lol).

4. Cynthia Morgan

Self-acclaimed star girl with the luscious red hair will definitely pull in good vibes with her versatile music sounds. Her sex appeal and reggae voice gives her an edge and makes her stand out in the industry. This redhead isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

5. Rihanna

Nope I didn't forget this bad girl.. Bad gal riri definitely has to be on this list, her voice is electric and you can listen to her over and over and not get tired. Not only is she good with music, this diva is exceptional with fashion and is obviously not afraid to try new things.

That's it, top five from our view...

Easy there Mr Eazi..

Another guilty beat!

Mr Eazi releases visuals for the song Chance produced by guilty beat and dedicates the song to his ex. I actually thought the song was called free me, but 'Chance' has a nice ring to it.

Don't forget Mr Eazi and friends concert, #dettydec takes place on the 21st of December at the landmark event center...

Enjoy!

Lagos big boy

Banger alert !

With bad gang still making waves on the radios and in our jukeboxes, Ajebutter hits us with Lagos big boy, produced by studio magic. The pair undoubtedly make a good combination.

Download Lagos big boy today!

Headies - Next Rated Artiste

Earlier the full nominee list for the headies awards was posted, if you haven't already seen it, it can be found right here...

We are going to be taking a few categories and talking about the nominees from vocal views. First of, "NEXT RATED".

For this category, Mr Eazi, Ycee, Tekno, Humblesmith and Aramide were nominated. Bear in mind the year under review is July 2015 - June 2016. First of, that seems to be too far off from the actual awards. A LOT has developed and changed between that time and now (from our view).

From our point of view there are 3 people tied for this award, and they are Tekno, Ycee and Mr Eazi. With that being said, Tekno should not be on this list because he has gotten a lot bigger and better in the past couple of months, but I guess given the review period, it can pass + he was not part of last years nominees.

Mr Eazi and Ycee both came into the industry almost at the same time and have proven themselves continously and without doubt definitely have a lot more to showcase. Humblesmith and Aramide are however both fantastic, but being put on the same table as the likes of the others nominated, its clear without doubt which lights will shine brighter.

Don't forget to vote! Whatever the outcome we would still be proud of whoever wins, and may the best man win.

Why did Korede Bello do us like that ?

So Mavin artiste Korede Bello recently dropped the video for his most recent jam, "Do like that".

Here is our view on the video.

First of all can I just say that the song is an absolute banger, the lyrics are out of the box and the beat will have you hooked and moving (big ups to Altims - Mavins). EVERYBODY is on to this. Doubt me ? Check out these tweets from some of his fans.

The video was very colourful, but it was missing something. You agree ? Yes, lets go. The whole concept with the neon lights was a very bright idea, but (based on our views) there should have been a bit more dancing (choreography). There are parts where the beat drops and you would expect a mad step (choreography step) but it never came. Korede actually tried, but I don't think he is that great when it comes to that type of thing. So you would notice if you watched carefully that he did a bit of movement and then stopped. I think at that point he could have stepped away and let the dancers take it from there (even if for about 20 seconds).

Overall the concept was a fantastic, the song was a banger and Korede Bello still remains one of our favorites.

Mad over you remix

Runtown in collaboration with Mr. Eazi, Ohema crooner have dropped a remix to the already mad jam "Mad over you". Listen and enjoy!

Jam of the day!

Today's jam is not exactly a new one, neither did it receive the hype I personally think it should have.... Either ways, here it goes..

Aka x Burna boy x Dj Clock x Timo Odv - NO!

Dancehall/Raggae

Reggae is not everybody's cup of tea, but it sure is mine...

Honestly I can go on an on about reggae for hours unending if you let me lol. I'll try to keep my excitement to a minimum on this post. So keep reading if you want to know some of my favorites, and if reggae and/or dancehall is not your thing and you just want to listen to some music then keep going.

Most reggae artistes give dancehall vibes and some of my favorites include: Vybz Kartel, Major lazer, Kranium, Spice, Alkaline, Konshens, Mr Vegas, Popcaan, Busy Signal.... Lets not forget Nigeria's very own General Pype and Reggae princess Cynthia Morgan

Most reggae artistes involve a lot of sex in their lyrics, so if you are easily offended by sex or sex relations these songs will highly offend you!

So in no particular order, here are 10 of my fave reggae and dancehall songs.... enjoy!

1. Vybz Kartel - Colouring this life

2. Alkaline - Fleek

3. Konshens - Bruk off yuh back

4. General Pype ft Burna boy x Phyno - All the Loving

5. Spice - So mi like it

6. Kranium - Sex addict

7. Cynthia Morgan - Simantiniya

8. Spice x Vybz Kartel - Conjugal Visit

9. Major Lazer ft Justin Beiber x MO - Cold water

10. Alkaline - Champion boy

+ 1. Vybz Kartel - Fever

Lol I said 10 right... well that's it for now.. Happy listening.
